Inclusive education offers opportunities

As a teacher, principal, or internal support worker, you have the opportunity to create an environment where all children can thrive, including those with disabilities and/or those with poor social integration. Perhaps you'll soon have a student with disabilities and/or those with poor social integrationin your class, or you're still discussing this with parents.

It's no longer unusual; almost all children with disabilities and/or those with poor social integrationattend school. Sometimes special education, but often also a regular school. This offers opportunities not only for the individual student with disabilities and/or those with poor social integration, but for the entire group. By learning together, students grow in their understanding of each other and develop broader perspectives. Often, small adjustments can make a big difference.

Tips

  • Keep talking : cooperation between school, parents and student is essential.

  • Don't make assumptions : Every child is unique and requires a personalized approach. Children with disabilities and/or those with poor social integrationare just as different from each other as other children.
